The Chicago Cubs are 2-2 to open up the 2026 MLB season. After defeating the Los Angeles Angels 7-2 on Monday, they're looking to repeat their success against the Halos on Tuesday to win their first series of the year.
Through the first four games, center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has been solid. The 24-year-old has a .313 batting average, .389 on-base percentage, .313 slugging percentage and a .701 OPS. In 16 at-bats, he's accumulated five hits (leads team), four runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
While he hopes to help the team reach the postseason for a second straight season, Crow-Armstrong has become a fan favorite in Chicago.
As one of the faces of the Cubs, his time in the spotlight has led to some exciting off-field opportunities. Just before the season began, Crow-Armstrong revealed a partnership with Gatorade.
On Tuesday, before taking on the Angels, he shared another exciting development. In a joint Instagram post, Crow-Armstrong announced a collaboration with SMACKIN' Sunflower Seeds to release a deep-dish pizza flavor.
"Pete’s Pizza seeds out NOW!" the caption reads.
Originally a first-round pick of the New York Mets, Crow-Armstrong was traded to the Cubs in 2021. After making his MLB debut in 2023, he truly broke out last season. Earning Gold Glove honors, an All-Star appearance and finishing ninth in NL MVP voting, the center fielder has established himself as one of the top young stars in MLB.
With this latest development revealed, Crow-Armstrong and Chicago gear up to play the Angels. Chasing their first series win of the year, first pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET at Wrigley Field. ESPN's matchup predictor gives the Cubs a 55.9% chance to win.
