Ahead of the Chicago Cubs series against the Seattle Mariners, the Cubs shared a video that stirred up emotions 21 years in the making. For the first time since the early 2000s, Sammy Sosa is returning to Wrigley Field.

The Cubs shared on social media a post with the caption "Sammy's home." It depicted the Cubs franchise legend stepping out of a car and into Wrigley Field for the first time since Sosa left the team over 20 years ago.

It's his return to the field where he set the baseball world on fire for his home-run prowess, and where he played the majority of his career at. Though his career ended on a sour-note, being among the players hit with steroid allegations, Sosa played a major role in the Cubs being one of the most entertaining teams from 1992 to 2004.

Across his Cubs career, Sosa amassed 58.8 WAR, 1,985 hits, 296 doubles, 545 home runs, 1,414 RBIs, and 1,245 runs scored. He also stole 181 bases, and had an impressive .928 OPS across 1,811 games and 6,990 at-bats.

Sosa played 13 years with the Cubs, and 16 years in Chicago overall. He was an integral part of the iconic home-run chases in the late 1990's, and he helped revive baseball alongside Mark McGwire.

While his departure from the city, and baseball in general, was marred in controversy, his return to Wrigley Field is a big deal for him and the Cubs. It's his first time visiting Wrigley since he left the Cubs in 2004, and he's expected to be in the broadcast booth, and get celebrated amid his return.

The Cubs legend hasn't set foot in Wrigley in over two decades, and now, he's back. While Sosa may never make the Hall of Fame, or be fully credited for his on-field accomplishments, the Cubs faithful will give him a warm-welcome in his return to Wrigley for the firts time in 21 years.
