Cubs Trade Idea Grabs 2.67 ERA All-Star to Replace Justin Steele

After losing Justin Steele, there are concerns about how the Chicago Cubs will look heading deep into the season.

The Cubs have played excellent baseball recently, and it isn't like their rotation has been an issue.

However, losing the ace of this rotation, and a potential Cy Young Award candidate, typically doesn't end well.

For a Cubs team that's well suited to at least win the National League Central and perhaps make a run in the NL during the postseason, there are a few ways they could go at the deadline, and they’re loaded with assets to make that happen.

Greg Amsinger of MLB Network examined trade candidates earlier this week and named Tyler Anderson of the Los Angeles Angels as one.

Tyler Anderson. He started today's game; the Angels had won every start he made. So he was their win-day guy. It's not the case today in a game that the Mariners are beating them up. And then, of course, Mike Trout left in the fourth inning. We still don't know why. Tyler Anderson is going to get moved, though, at some point,” Amsinger said.

Anderson isn't the same arm caliber as Steele, but he'd be a decent replacement.

Jed Hoyer loves left-handed starters, making him somebody that could be on his radar list.

The two-time All-Star is 35 years old and has been very good for parts of his career. He has thrown the ball at a very high level to start the season, posting a 2.67 ERA and striking out 27 hitters in 33.2 innings.
