Dave Roberts Breaks Silence on Blake Treinen's Return From Injury to Dodgers
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

Yes, the Los Angeles Dodgers are by far the best team in Major League Baseball on paper. This team is loaded from top to bottom, but the Dodgers continue to deal with injuries. If this trend doesn't change in the near future, some issues could arise.

Despite the talent on the roster, nobody should expect the Dodgers to find success if they're banged up.

Unfortunately, right-hander Blake Treinen is dealing with an injury, and he's now on the IL. The Dodgers placed him on the 15-day injured list, and he'll undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury in the coming days.

According to Dave Roberts, the Dodgers aren't too concerned about the injury, but that doesn't mean that they're in the clear.

“Not too concerned, given that he was still trying to pitch yesterday,” Roberts said, per the OC Register. “But I think I just reserve judgment until we get more from the scan. But the level of concern is not too high right now.”

“I appreciate Blake for letting us know his discomfort,” Roberts said.

After being a staple in the Dodgers' bullpen over the past few years, Treinen, who has one of the best sweepers in Major League Baseball, is needed.

He hasn't been great during the early parts of the campaign, at least for his standards, posting a 3.38 ERA and striking out 10 hitters in 8.0 innings. That's after he posted a 1.93 ERA and 0.94 WHIP a campaign ago.

36 years old, Treinen has continued to show that he's one of the top relievers in baseball. However, this injury could become worrisome, something the Dodgers have to factor in over the next few weeks to months.
