Detroit Tigers Draft Infield and Catcher

The Detroit Tigers had the 24th overall pick and 34th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. They used the 24th overall pick to draft infielder Jordan Yost. They then used the 34th overall pick and drafted catcher Michael Oliveto. Yost was the 50th overall ranked prospect in the draft class, while Oliveto was the 219th overall prospect in the draft class.

Jordan Yost

Yost was committed to Florida. He was the top-ranked shortstop in Florida and the third overall prospect. He was the 26th overall shortstop and the 65th overall high school player. In 123 high school games, he hit .360 with a .944 OPS. He had nine doubles, four triples, four home runs, 65 RBI, and 102 runs scored. This season in 35 games, he hit .412 with a 1.117 OPS. He had two doubles, a triple, four home runs, 26 RBI, and 48 runs scored.

Michael Oliveto

Oiveto committed to Yale. He was the top-ranked catcher in New York and the fifth overall prospect in the state. He was the seventh overall catcher in the country and the 101st player in the country out of high school. Oliveto had a 1.617 OPS with 25 RBI and 31 runs scored. He caught ten runners stealing defensively, with four of those coming as pickoffs, and allowed just one passed ball.
