The Detroit Tigers won their seventh game in eight tries on Monday night against the Chicago White Sox and it wasn't close with Detroit jumping out to a 8-0 lead in the fourth inning before finishing off manager Will Venable's team by a score of 13-1.
The Tigers' win gave them a record of 40-21 on the season, tops in Major League Baseball, while putting them in an elite category among historical Detroit Tigers teams.
The franchise, which has four World Series titles to its name, last won it all in 1984.
On Tuesday, a historical stat comparison was revealed that bodes well for the 2025 team's World Series chances.
ESPN's Sportscenter revealed that the 2025 Detroit Tigers are tied for second among all Tigers teams in the last 70 years for fewest games to reach the 40 win mark.
They have needed 61 games to reach the mark, tying them with the 1968 Tigers, and placing them just behind the 1984 Tigers, which needed 53 games to reach 40 wins.
Both historical Tigers teams went on to win the World Series after their hot starts to the season.
Detroit now leads last season's division champions, the Cleveland Guardians, by 6.5 games in the American League Central with the Minnesota Twins next at 7 games back in the division.
Manager AJ Hinch's team is set to play the White Sox again tonight, then twice again before welcoming the Chicago Cubs to Comerica Park for a three-game series starting on Friday at 7:10 p.m. ET, more opportunities for Detroit to continue its winning ways in the first half of the season.
