The Detroit Tigers sent six players to last night’s MLB All-Star Game. Their performance in the game will go down in the history books, but not in a good way. The Tigers were the first team in league history to have six or more players play in the All-Star Game but have none of them get a hit at the plate or toss a scoreless outing on the mound.

Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal started the game for the American League and surrendered 2 earned runs in his lone inning of work. Casey Mize surrendered an earned run in 0.2 innings. Second Baseman Gleyber Torres went 0-of-2, Left Fielder Riley Greene went 0-of-3, DH Zach McKinstry went 0-of-1, and Center Fielder Javier Baez went 0-of-2. How will the Detroit Tigers play in the second half of the regular season?

Detroit Tigers Season Summary

It was a tremendous first half of the regular season for the Detroit Tigers. They have the best record(59-38) in Major League Baseball. Detroit’s offense has been strong. They are ninth in batting average, eighth in home runs, and sixth in runs scored. The team’s offense has been paced by Greene. He is eighth in the league in home runs and third in RBI.

Detroit’s pitching staff has also been stellar. They are ninth in ERA, 13th in opposing batting average, and eighth in opposing batting average. Skubal is putting together another Cy Young-caliber campaign. He is third in the league in wins, third in ERA, third in strikeouts, and leading the league in WHIP.

Final Thoughts

The Detroit Tigers have another few days off before beginning what they hope is a successful second half of the regular season. They visit the Texas Rangers for a three-game set beginning on Friday. Detroit will look to continue playing well and go on a deep postseason run.
