This article is part of a series of player reviews for the 2023 Arizona Diamondbacks. It was a surprising and marvelous year for the team as they won 84 games to make the postseason. They advanced all the way to Game Five of the World Series before bowing out to the Texas Rangers. There are 54 players in all that had at least one at-bat or pitched at least one inning for the team this past season. They are being presented in reverse order of their aWAR (average WAR-Wins Above Replacement) produced, which is the average of Baseball Reference and Fangraphs WAR. These are their season stories.

The 2023 season was a season of traveling for Anthony Misiewicz as he played for three different teams. He started the season with the Arizona Diamondbacks in which he played a minor relief role for them. Shuttling between the Reno Aces and the D-backs, Misiewicz had two extended stints for the D-backs.

He got into four games in April, from the 20th to the 29th, having a modicum of success. Over  those four games, he pitched 4.2 innings and allowed just two runs, two walks, and struck out three. His ERA was 3.86 and FIP was 3.26.

After a couple of weeks in Triple-A, the Diamondbacks recalled him on May 12th. He would make just three more appearances with the club. Over those three outings, he pitched 3.1 innings and gave up six hits, three runs, one walk, and three strikeouts. The left-hander had an ERA of 8.10 and a 6.26 FIP. The Diamondbacks saw all they needed to see. Eventually, he was designated for assignment and claimed off of waivers by the Detroit Tigers.

Anthony Misiewicz would later be claimed off waivers by the New York Yankees. He would finish the season with them.

2024 Status and Outlook:

Anthony Misiewicz has not yet reached arbitration and has just over two years of service time. If the Yankees keep him throughout the off-season, he won't reach free agency until 2027. However, the 29-year-old might be shuttled between teams multiple times until he can find a more permanent home.
