Randal Grichuk was making it happen early and often for Arizona, as he had two RBIs and went 2-for-3 in Sunday’s contest. The bats although fell quiet, and the absence of Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll was hurting this D-Backs ball club.
Brandon Pfaadt had an average outing, as he pitched only five innings while allowing four earned runs on six hits. In the bottom of the fifth, he allowed a three-run home run to Mickey Moniak, that just barely got over the right field wall. The Snakes were unable to get anything going against the Colorado Rockies bullpen and couldn’t get any sort of momentum going in the later innings.
Arizona did have a chance late in the top of the ninth inning, but couldn’t capitalize. Randal Grichuk had another massive moment when he hit a deep line drive into right field and was inches away from a homerun, though ended up with a double. Ketel Marte came in as a pinch hitter for Arizona and hit a pop fly to left to end the game.
The Diamondbacks dropped Sunday’s matchup at Coors Field, but came away with the series win as they head to Chicago for a three-game series against the White Sox.
