The Arizona Diamondbacks received good news on Thursday night relating to Chase Field, as HB2704 was approved by the Arizona Senate.
Late Thursday night was the setting when the Arizona Senate voted on House Bill 2704. The tax recapture bill was passed with 19-11 votes. The next measure will include the amended legislation to head back to the House of Representatives before it’s able to make its way to Governor Katie Hobbs for approval.
“This is another major step after receiving approval of HB2704 in the Senate. This has been a long, yet collaborative and productive process, and I’d say signs are pointing towards a positive solution.” (Credit Alex Weiner | Arizona Sports)

HB2740 is about reinvesting the sales taxes that will be collected at Chase Field back into renovations. A number of issues when it comes to air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing problems have to be resolved.
BREAKING: Arizona State Senate just passed HB2704 (@Dbacks bill) by a vote of 19-11!
Now what?
It comes back to the House for what’s called a “Final Read.” If it passes the House, it’ll go to the Governor for her signature.
So… two steps left!

It seems to be that the next part of the process would be making sure the Arizona Diamondbacks come to a new lease agreement, as their lease with Chase Field is up in 2027. This was a massive step forward of making that agreement come to fruition, and to help keep the D-Backs in Downtown Phoenix for years to come.
The bill is through the Senate! Go Dbacks!!!!!!
