Diamondbacks Sign Infielder Matt Beaty to Minor League Deal
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Diamondbacks have signed infielder Matt Beaty to a minor league deal, according to the organization’s transaction log. He has been assigned to the team’s Double-A affiliate in Amarillo.

Beaty, 31, was formerly a 12th round selection by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2015 MLB Draft out of Belmont University. He debuted for the Dodgers in the 2019 season and played 240 games with them as a reserve infielder. He played 2022 with the San Diego Padres, then split time with the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals. He owns a career .247/.323/.394 slash line with 18 home runs in 290 career games.

Beaty will likely fill in at first base for Amarillo, with prospect Deyvison De Los Santos recently promoted to Triple-A Reno after a strong start to the season. The team will continue to develop Ivan Melendez at third base instead of moving him across the diamond. Those two choices have created a hole at first base.
