Diamondbacks target return to winning ways against Toronto Blue Jays

The D-Backs are coming off winning five of their last six games, mainly because of their consistency and execution at the plate. They are still fourth in the NL West yet still are in the thick of it when it comes to a wildcard spot, even though it is still only in the middle of June. The Blue Jays recently were swept by the Philadelphia Phillies, with Toronto only getting a combined six runs in three games in Philadelphia.

Tuesday’s mound matchups:

Arizona will be rolling with Brandon Pfaadt on the mound. In Pfaadt’s last outing he pitched five innings and let up nine hits, but only allowed two earned runs against the Seattle Mariners. Pfaadt was able to get somewhat back on track, as in his two starts before the Mariners, he only went a combined three innings while giving up 14 earned runs. Pfaadt was lights out to begin the 2025 season and will look to regain that confidence against the Blue Jays.

Toronto has Chris Bassitt getting the start on Tuesday. Bassitt has been stellar at home this season for the Blue Jays. A 5-0 record with a 2.48 ERA over at the Rogers Centre shows that Arizona might have their work cut out for them. Bassitt has gone at least seven innings in his last two starts including a one-hit start two outings ago against the Phillies.

Even with all the injuries piling on for Arizona, they have persevered so far and are playing for each other. They need to keep up this momentum against a good Toronto Blue Jays ball club, though the Snakes could be catching them at the right time.
