While the Los Angeles Dodgers are still dealing with a string of injuries following the insult of a 12-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Father’s Day, Dave Roberts’ squad will be getting some reinforcements heading into their series against the Minnesota Twins in the form of relief pitcher Brock Stewart, who has been activated off of the injured list for the first time since early May.
Taking to social media to announce the move, the team informed their fans that, to make room for Stewart, right-handed pitcher Chayce McDermott is heading back to Triple-A after a short tenure in the majors.
“The Dodgers reinstated RHP Brock Stewart from the injured list and optioned RHP Chayce McDermott,” the Dodgers shared on social media.
With Stewart back in the fold, the 34-year-old could see action against the Twins for the first time since 2025, when he was a member of Minnesota. After an impressive run of action coming out of Minnesota’s bullpen from 2023-25, Stewart landed in Los Angeles in a trade for James Outman, who was designated for assignment earlier this month.
With 11 pitchers on IL, including Blake Treinen, a Roberts favorite who is expected to miss at least the rest of the month with elbow inflammation, Stewart has a chance to make an immediate impact for a Dodgers bullpen currently headlined by players like Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia, and Jack Dreyer. If Stewart can stay healthy, which has been a tough ask for the veteran pitcher at this stage of his career, the Dodgers might be able to take advantage of his game as they look to get healthy.
