The Los Angeles Dodgers have once again established themselves as one of baseball’s premier World Series contenders throughout the early portion of the 2026 MLB season. Entering Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies with a 37-21 record, the Dodgers currently hold a 4.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres for first place in the National League West.

Despite dealing with significant injuries to the pitching staff, the Dodgers remain among the top teams in the National League. Throughout the year, the club has spent time without several key arms, including Blake Snell , Tyler Glasnow, and Edwin Díaz. As a result, Los Angeles has relied heavily, and successfully, on their bullpen this season.

Prior to Sunday’s game against the Phillies, the Dodgers shared some encouraging news involving their bullpen. The organization announced that left-handed reliever Jack Dreyer had been activated from the injured list, while right-hander Paul Gervase was optioned to Triple-A.

“The Dodgers activated LHP Jack Dreyer from the injured list and optioned RHP Paul Gervase,” the team shared on X.

Before the injury that sent him to the 15-day IL on May 17, Dreyer had become one of the most dependable bullpen arms for Los Angeles. The 27-year-old appeared in 20 games for the Dodgers this season, following up on last year’s effective rookie campaign. Across 21.2 innings this year, Dreyer posted a 2.08 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP while recording 24 strikeouts. His performance made him one of Dave Roberts' most trusted left-handed relief options during the first months of the season.

Fortunately for Los Angeles, Dreyer's recovery progressed on schedule. After spending just over two weeks on the injured list, Dreyer is set to rejoin one of the most effective bullpens in the Major Leagues.

The Dodgers will now hope Dreyer can return to the form he showed prior to the shoulder inflammation that sent him to the injured list.

The Dodgers have won eight of their last 10 games and will now look to continue that momentum with another key arm back in the bullpen.
