Dodgers Announce Positive Future Hall of Fame Pitcher News
Owen Ziliak/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

MLB teams usually cannot keep their heads above water without one of their best pitchers in the starting rotation. The same cannot be said about the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are 11-5 in their first 16 games of the 2025 season.

On Friday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided a positive injury update about one of the members of the Dodgers' pitchers.

Three-time Cy Young Award winner and the 2014 National League Most Valuable Player Clayton Kershaw is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City next Wednesday, Roberts said, per Jack Baer of Yahoo! Sports.

Kershaw is not eligible to be activated onto the active roster until May 17, so he'll have plenty of time to ramp up his pitch count before making his 2025 debut with the Dodgers.

Kershaw underwent surgeries on his left foot and knee after the 2024 season. The 37-year-old threw 30 innings in seven starts in 2024. He struggled to a 4.50 ERA and an ERA+ of 88.

Kershaw signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract with Los Angeles in February. He has spent his entire 17-year career with the Dodgers and made his MLB debut with the club in 2008. He led qualified MLB pitchers in ERA in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017.

The Dodgers' pitching staff suffered its fair share of injuries during the offseason and over the first few weeks of the 2025 season.

Right-handed pitchers Tony Gonsolin and Michael Kopech are on the 15-day injured list, and two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell was placed on the 15-day IL last week with left shoulder soreness.
