Dodgers Announce Trade With Mariners on Sunday

The Los Angeles Dodgers aren't planning to sit idle after their second straight World Series win. Rumors are floating that the franchise is aiming to pick Kyle Tucker, a right fielder, in free agency.

Tucker spent the 2025 season playing for the Chicago Cubs, finishing with an average of .266 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs and a .841 OPS. But, before that could materialise, Los Angeles announced another roster change.

The Dodgers completed a small but notable swap Sunday, acquiring right-hander Tyler Gough from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for left-hander Robinson Ortiz. The move trades a depth arm for a young, injured prospect.

Ortiz is a 25-year-old lefty who spent 2025 mostly at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He made 15 appearances there, including one start, and posted a 2.76 ERA across 16.1 innings. Over the full minor-league season, he logged 48 appearances, a 5-2 record and a 3.19 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 59.1 innings.

Ortiz has been in the Dodgers system for parts of six seasons and is an international signing from the Dominican Republic. Those career and 2025 numbers suggest he is a reliable bullpen option at the upper minors.

Gough, 22, arrives in Los Angeles with unanswered questions. He did not pitch in the 2025 minor-league season because of injury. Before that, Gough had 33 appearances with High-A Modesto across 2023–24, combining for an 8-7 record and a 4.66 ERA with 123 strikeouts in 125.2 innings.

He was a ninth-round selection by Seattle in the 2022 draft out of JSerra Catholic High School. The Dodgers will monitor his health and timeline before projecting his role.
