Dodgers' Blake Snell Comments On Tarik Skubal's Free Agency

The best free agent available this offseason is Tarik Skubal, who was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline.

He was expected to help the Dodgers secure a three-peat, but they fell short in October. Now, Snell is in line to sign a record-breaking contract on the open market. During his time on the Dodgers, he developed a close friendship with the other two-time Cy Young Award winner on the staff: Blake Snell.

Snell will be back with the Dodgers, and he wants Skubal back with him.

"I talk to him every day. He’s good. He knows how I feel. You know, I want nothing more than him to be a Dodger. But again, it’s a life decision for him and his family. So I respect that,” Snell told SportsNetLA's David Vassegh.

“I keep it there, but I’ve done my pitch. I hear the Dodger fans, you know, hit me up all the time. ‘Get a little bro to stay here.’ We’ll see what he does, you know, but I think we have a good shot. I think we do have a good shot to get him here.”

The Dodgers have more than just a "good shot." Reports say Skubal wants to stay in Los Angeles anyway, and the Dodgers can afford him. There are only a handful of teams that can take on a contract like the one Skubal will demand.

The New York Mets are another team to keep an eye on in the Skubal Sweepstakes. There will be other contenders as well, but the Dodgers and Mets may be the frontrunners.
