The Los Angeles Dodgers have a small number of weaknesses. Their lineup boasts three MVP winners, including one coming off the first 50-50 season in MLB history, and multiple All-Stars as a surrounding cast. Yet, with the trade deadline looming, Alana Rizzo and Clint Pasillas discussed what roster moves the team could make on the latest episode of Dodgers Territory.
Although Los Angeles is in desperate need of starting pitching, Rizzo and Pasillas focused on the bench, indicating that fan-favorite infielder Miguel Rojas could be the next veteran out the door.
"I don’t know that he is bringing the most value to the roster right now, both offensively and defensively, at this point of his career,” Pasillas said.
Rizzo responded, "I would have thought, no, they're not gonna do that until they DFA'd Austin Barnes and Chris Taylor basically on back-to-back days."
Moving on from Rojas would send shockwaves in the locker room and the fan base. However, there is reason to entertain the idea. In 36 games, Rojas has a .218 batting average with just five RBIs and is on pace for his worst baseball-reference WAR metric since 2019.

Rizzo continued by explaining the team’s World Series aspirations and how Rojas’ below-average play could spell the end of his Dodgers tenure.
“I understand the business side of it, but this a team that has expectations to win a World Series again." Rizzo continued, "If you’re not cutting it, it’s a production game. They’ll let you try for a little bit, but if you’re not producing, you’re probably going to go.”
If Los Angeles decides Rojas is no longer suited for the Major League roster, they can promote number four prospect Alex Freeland to assume a backup role. Freeland is hitting .283 at Triple-A with six home runs and 44 RBIs. The team could also target Athletics’ second baseman Luis Urias, who ESPN’s Jeff Passan mentioned as a potential trade chip.
