The Los Angeles Dodgers closed out their first homestand with a 4–1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday, continuing a slow offensive stretch following an eight-run Opening Day performance.

Los Angeles managed just one extra-base hit until the ninth inning and struck out 12 times, with everybody across the lineup struggling to produce early in the season.

Shohei Ohtani, hitting leadoff, remains part of that group as he keeps searching for some consistency at the plate.

Although he walked once on Wednesday, Ohtani went hitless in three at-bats and struck out in a key eighth-inning moment with two runners on base. After that strikeout, Ohtani shook his right wrist while walking away from the plate.

That moment prompted a question to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts after the game, though he did not provide any clarity on whether there was an issue.

Roberts acknowledged noticing the same moment but indicated he had no immediate update on Ohtani’s condition.

“You know, I don’t know,” Roberts said. “I saw that, too, after the last strikeout. So I’ll get a report from (Dodgers’ Head Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy Thomas Albert) after this session.”

The uncertainty comes as Ohtani continues to ramp up his game, currently hitting a poor .167 without an extra-base hit. That said, Othani keeps drawing walks and reaching base regularly, with a .423 on-base percentage through Wednesday.

Through six games, the Dodgers’ top hitters have yet to find a rhythm, with Ohtani, Kyle Tucker, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman combining for limited production and only two hitters (min. 15 PA) having a batting average above .238 in Los Angeles' lineup.

Los Angeles sits at 4–2 to begin the season as it heads out on its first road trip, with the first game of the series against the Washington Nationals scheduled for Friday at 1:05 p.m. ET.
