The Los Angeles Dodgers have a revolving door of outfielders on their roster for the 2025 MLB season. With injuries to Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman, a lot of changes have occurred in the outfield.
According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, 28-year-old Dodgers outfielder James Outman has a locker at Dodger Stadium. Outman has made a few sporadic appearances with the Dodgers MLB club in 2025, but has played just nine games during the season.

While Outman gets the call-up to the Major League roster for the second time in 2025, the corresponding move is unknown. However, Outman will get his second chance on the big-league roster in 2025, as he is called up for the second time in the last 30 days.
In his brief stint with the Dodgers in May, Outman had 24 at-bats. In those at-bats, he had three hits, five runs, two home runs, four RBI, three walks, and 13 strikeouts. Outman hit just .125 and had an OPS of .597. His 2025 stint in the Major more closely mirrored his 2024 than his 2023 season.
In 2024, Outman had a .521 OPS across 136 at-bats. It was his worst stint in the MLB by far, and it led to his demotion from the MLB roster. His terrible 2024 and lackluster 2025 make his 2023 numbers look all the more incredible.
Across 151 games and 483 at-bats, Outman had a .248 batting average with a .790 OPS. He totaled 120 hits, 86 runs, 16 doubles, three triples, 23 home runs, and 70 RBI en route to a 3.4 WAR season.
Outman's incredible 2023 hasn't been replicated since. Though Outman has impressed in the Minor Leagues. With the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate, Outman is batting .270 with a .904 OPS. He has 49 hits, 35 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, and 42 RBI in 181 at-bats.
While his Triple-A numbers are impressive, Outman has struggled in the Major Leagues. This second chance at the MLB level will be another shot for Outman to carve out a role on the MLB roster, even if it's as a bench bat.
