Tyler Glasnow can be counted among the most dominant starting pitchers in the MLB whenever he is healthy enough to take the mound. The Los Angeles Dodgers ace missed the entire 2024 postseason with injury, but he played a starring role in their World Series success last season. Glasnow is enjoying another strong start to the season with the Dodgers this year.
However, the Los Angeles Dodgers prematurely removed Tyler Glasnow from his outing against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park on Wednesday afternoon. Glasnow felt a back spasm while tossing his warm-up pitches before the second inning. The 6’8″ right-hander believes his height causes it to be a recurring issue, although he expects to be back on the field pretty soon.
“It’s like a spasm that gives out,” Tyler Glasnow told reporters after the game. “I’ve got it since high school. [Comes from] being tall, I guess. I get it, like, a couple of times a year.

“It was just a warm-up pitch, and it gave out. I tried to throw another one. It was just too hard to bend over. But it’s not too serious. I’ve had it a few times,” he added. “It shouldn’t be too long.”
Tyler Glasnow faced a similar issue last September, forcing him to skip his start against the Baltimore Orioles. He returned on an eight-day rest to pitch seven no-hit innings against the Colorado Rockies. In 2024, Glasnow skipped an IL stint when he suffered the same problem.
Despite coming out early from his start against the Houston Astros on Tuesday, Glasnow passed a major milestone in his career in the first inning. After giving up a leadoff home run to Brice Matthews, he punched out feared slugger Yordan Alvarez for his 1000th strikeout in MLB.
“It’s a cool accomplishment. It would’ve been better if I didn’t get taken out of the game in the second,” Tyler Glasnow said.

Tyler Glasnow set a new record as the quickest ever to reach the mark, requiring just 793 innings. Meanwhile, the Dodgers responded from the early setback to record a 12-2 blowout and take the series on the road against the Astros.
