The Los Angeles Dodgers announced great news about their World Series MVP and first baseman Freddie Freeman on Wednesday.
David Vassegh of AM 579 LA Sports says Freeman will play the designated hitter position in Thursday’s Spring Training game against the Colorado Rockies in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This is great news for the Dodgers and a veteran who was the most efficient player during the postseason.
Freeman’s recovery time from ankle surgery continues to shorten, and he is ahead of schedule. Less than a week ago, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Freeman started participating in running drills and workouts and would play the following week.
That time has come for the Dodgers, and Freeman is ready to get back on the field. However, it is unclear if he will run the bases after his initial plate appearance.
The Dodgers likely don't want to put too much pressure on Freeman in his first game back, considering he isn’t 100%. The team wants to ensure its players are more active than aggressive during spring training.
As of Feb. 25, the Dodgers are 1-5 as they’ve been working to develop their prospects.
Still, Freeman’s first appearance at the plate this Spring Training is nothing short of great news. Freeman at the plate could be the spark the team needs to play more efficiently.
The last time the Dodgers had Freeman on the field, he accounted for five runs (four of them home runs), six hits, 12 RBIs, two walks, and only one strikeout in the five World Series games against the New York Yankees.
