Finalists for the 2025 National League Silver Slugger Awards were announced by MLB on Wednesday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers were represented by Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Will Smith and Shohei Ohtani.
The Dodgers were also finalists for the team honor, which is presented to the best offensive club in each league.
Silver Slugger Awards have been given out since 1980 to recognize the best offensive players at each position in each league. The winners are voted upon by Major League managers and coaches, who are unable to vote for players on their own teams.
Freeman is a finalist at first base, along with Pete Alonso (New York Mets) and Matt Olson (Atlanta Braves). Muncy is one of four finalists at the hot corner, along with Matt Chapman (San Francisco Giants), Manny Machado (San Diego Padres) and Austin Riley (Atlanta Braves).
Behind the plate, Smith is joined by William Contreras (Milwaukee Brewers) and Hunter Goodman (Colorado Rockies). Shohei Ohtani is one of three finalists at designated hitter, along with Kyle Schwarber (Philadelphia Phillies) and Christian Yelich (Brewers).
For the team honor, the Dodgers are joined by the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Winners for the NL Silver Sluggers will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 6 on The Baseball Insiders podcast and YouTube Show with Robert Murray of FanSided at 3:00 p.m. PT.
Finalists for the American League Silver Sluggers will be announced on Thursday, Oct. 23 and winners announced on Friday, Nov. 7.
Since the award’s inception, the Dodgers have five prior instances in which they had two Silver Slugger winners on the same team (1981, 1988, 1993, 1995, 2009). But in 2024, they had three winners for the first time in the same season.
Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernández all won the offensive award last year, in addition to the Dodgers being honored with the Team Silver Slugger Award. Freeman and Smith were the two Dodgers last season to not win the award.
The Dodgers have one fewer finalist this season than last year.
