Kiké Hernández will start a rehab assignment with OKC tonight (in Tacoma).
Blake Snell will start a rehab assignment with OKC on Saturday.
Two key players inching closer to returns.
Hernandez has missed significant time this season due to offseason elbow surgery and now an oblique strain. He didn't make his season debut until May 25, but lasted just two games before straining his left oblique.
The 34-year-old was re-signed to a one-year, $4.5 million deal by the Dodgers back in February. Hernandez has played a key role off the Dodgers' bench the last two seasons, helping them capture back-to-back World Series titles in 2024 and 2025.
The postseason in 2024 was a big one for Hernandez, where he posted a .294/.357/.451 slash line with a .808 OPS, two home runs and six RBI in 14 games.
As for Snell, his Dodgers' tenure has been riddled with injuries so far. Snell signed a five-year, $182 million deal with Los Angeles in the 2024-2025 offseason. He has been limited to just 12 starts and 64.1 innings as a Dodger across his first two seasons.
Snell has made only one start this year due to left shoulder fatigue and surgery to remove loose bodies in his pitching elbow. He went three innings, allowing four runs on six hits to the Atlanta Braves on May 9, which was his lone outing of the campaign. It was discovered shortly thereafter that Snell had loose bodies in his elbow that would need to be removed.
Snell will likely need multiple rehab starts before he rejoins the Dodgers' rotation. Without the left-hander, the Dodgers' rotation has received dominance from All-Star trio: Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Justin Wrobleski.
Despite dealing with a slew of injuries on their roster, the Dodgers still have the best record in baseball at 61-36. They also have a commanding 11.5 game lead in the National League West division.
The rich will only get richer once they get Snell and Hernandez back from the IL in the near future.
