The Los Angeles Dodgers signed arguably the best player in MLB free agency this past offseason in Kyle Tucker. Tucker is a four-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger recipient and one-time Gold Glove winner. After spending the first seven seasons of his career in Houston with the Astros, Tucker played with the Chicago Cubs in 2025. Now, he is set to join a loaded Dodgers squad.
MLB Network recently caught up with Tucker and asked him about joining Los Angeles. Host Greg Amsinger posed the question of if Tucker felt he was inevitably going to end up with the Dodgers this past offseason.
"Not necessarily," Tucker said. "I mean, I kind of treated it like any other offseason. Not necessarily worrying about where I'm gonna go play, just making sure wherever I am, I'm gonna be ready when the season comes. I just kind of treated it like a normal offseason... Tried not to stress out too much about it."
Tucker will have a legitimate opportunity to compete for his second World Series championship. His first came in 2022 with the Astros. Now, Tucker joins a Dodgers ball club that has won back-to-back championships.
Switching teams is never a simple task. For Tucker, signing with the Dodgers means he will play for a third team in a third consecutive season. Former pitcher and current analyst Jake Peavy asked Tucker about the subject.
"I've played with a lot of really good players throughout my career," Tucker said. "Very fortunate to be a part of really good teams at the same time. This team is no different from the rest, I mean, there's some phenomenal people and players on this squad just like I've had in the past. It's my third team now in the last three years. It was a little weird at first, but you kind of get used to it."
Tucker is fresh off a 2025 campaign that saw him earn his fourth consecutive All-Star selection. He ultimately slashed .266/.377/.464 across 136 games played. Tucker added 22 home runs.

Kyle Tucker is set to make an impact with the Dodgers in 2026. Los Angeles already featured a talented ball club, but the Tucker signing makes the roster even more dangerous without question.
