The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for the 2026 MLB season, determined to maintain their status as the league’s most feared team.
Los Angeles has reloaded in a big way, aiming for a third straight World Series title, and on Wednesday the signing of outfielder Kyle Tucker to a massive four-year, $240 million contract became official.
Tucker now joins the Dodgers as one of the highest-paid players in league history, and it is easy to see why. The 29-year-old will spend his prime years in Los Angeles and immediately fill a void in the outfield.
Tucker excels in every aspect of the game, and last year with the Chicago Cubs he delivered another complete season, posting a .266 batting average, .377 on-base percentage, .841 OPS, 22 home runs and 25 stolen bases across 136 games.
To add Tucker to the roster, the Dodgers had to make room on their 40-man. On Wednesday, the club designated outfielder Michael Siani for assignment, hoping he would clear waivers and remain in the organization as depth.
That plan quickly unraveled when the New York Yankees swooped in and claimed Siani, adding him to their 40-man roster on Friday.
The Yankees wrote, "Earlier today, the Yankees claimed OF Michael Siani off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees have designated RHP Kaleb Ort for assignment."

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees have designated RHP Kaleb Ort for assignment.
The transaction only heightens tension between the two clubs. The Dodgers defeated the Bronx Bombers in the 2024 World Series, a symbolic passing of the torch that underscored Los Angeles’ rise.
Once regarded as MLB’s most successful franchise, the Yankees have seen their dominance fade in recent years while the Dodgers continue to cement their own dynasty.
With Tucker’s arrival and Los Angeles’ relentless pursuit of championships, the Dodgers are positioning themselves as the new kings of MLB, a reality that makes every roster battle with New York carry added weight.
Siani’s journey has been eventful, as he was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers in December of last year from the Atlanta Braves.
A left-handed hitting defensive specialist, he is capable of playing all three outfield positions and brings valuable versatility to any roster.
He spent most of the 2025 season in the St. Louis Cardinals’ organization, where his glove and speed stood out even when his bat lagged behind.
For the Yankees, Siani represents a useful depth piece who can provide late-game defense, pinch-running ability and coverage across the outfield.
In contrast, losing Siani is more about depth than rivalry for the Dodgers. While he was not expected to play a major role in Los Angeles’ push for another title, his defensive skills and versatility made him a valuable option to have in the system.
