Left-handed starter Blake Snell is in his tenth major-league season and first with the Los Angeles Dodgers after debuting with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016.
The 32-year-old first reached his full potential in 2018 with Tampa Bay, winning his first Cy Young Award and earning his first All-Star appearance after posting an MLB-leading 1.89 ERA and 21 wins. He captured a second Cy Young in 2023 with the San Diego Padres.
The Rays traded Snell to the Padres in 2020, where he spent three seasons before signing with the San Francisco Giants in 2024. After opting out of that deal, he inked a five-year, $182 million contract with Los Angeles this past offseason.
Early in April, Snell was placed on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation; by May, he’d moved to the 60-day IL after experiencing discomfort following a bullpen session.
Before a matchup with the Houston Astros, manager Dave Roberts said Snell will face hitters for two innings tomorrow, and if he responds well, a rehab assignment should follow.
Blake Snell and Blake Treinen will face hitters again tomorrow (one inning for Treinen, two for Snell). If all goes well, then the next step for both could be rehab assignments.

Dave Roberts also reiterated that Tyler Glasnow's next start will likely come with the Dodgers.
Snell’s last outing for the Dodgers came April 2 versus the Atlanta Braves. In two 2025 starts, he posted a 1–0 record, struck out four over nine innings and surrendered two earned runs.
As Los Angeles sits at 56–33 atop the NL West, Snell figures to be an important piece down the stretch. His veteran presence and postseason experience should shore up a rotation that’s missed his innings, giving the Dodgers another weapon in their push for back-to-back championships.
