The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up outfielder Alek Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City after Andy Pages suffered a fractured left hand.
Pages was hit by a 100.2 mph sinker from Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Bubba Chandler during the third inning Friday night. X-rays later confirmed the fracture, with Pages expected to miss four to five weeks.
Fabian Ardaya reported the Dodgers’ decision to call up Thomas after the injury, while Dodgers Nation also shared an update on Pages’ situation.

Dodgers acquired the former Arizona OF earlier this year. Has had an .855 OPS with OKC and, most importantly, can play CF.
Pages was having a breakout season before the injury, earning his first career All-Star selection while becoming a key piece of the Dodgers’ outfield.
The 25-year-old was batting .272 with 21 home runs across 127 games. Although the injury is a significant setback, manager Dave Roberts indicated that it is not expected to end Pages’ season.
The Dodgers will now turn to Thomas to help cover center field while Pages works toward a return. Thomas struggled during his 28-game major league stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this season, hitting .181 with two home runs and four stolen bases in 94 at-bats.
Thomas found more success after returning to Triple-A, where he posted a .855 OPS. He also gives Los Angeles a strong defensive option in center field.
The Dodgers enter Saturday with a 78-51 record and a 9.0-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West. That cushion gives Los Angeles some room to absorb the loss, but Pages’ production will still be difficult to replace.
The timing also puts additional pressure on Thomas and the rest of the outfield to maintain the club’s production through the next month.
Pages is expected to miss four to five weeks, giving the Dodgers hope that he can return for the final stretch of the regular season or postseason.
