The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that pitcher Brock Stewart has been activated from the injured list, optioning pitcher Jake Eder to Triple-A Oklahoma City in the process. Stewart has yet to make his debut in the 2026 MLB season but could make his first appearance very soon.

Stewart previously played for the Dodger from 2016 to 2019 before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. The right-handed pitcher was brought back to the Dodgers during the 2025 MLB following an impressive stint the Minnesota Twins.

Before being placed on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation, Stewart made four appearances for the Dodgers in 2025. He recorded a 4.91 ERA during those four games.

Despite doing all he could to make a return from his injury, the Dodgers ultimately decided to shut him down for the rest of the 2025 MLB season. Stewart underwent surgery to repair his right shoulder in September 2025.

Throughout his rehab assignment, Stewart showed many positive signs of improvement, despite being unable to recover in time for the start of the 2026 MLB season. He's played eight rehab games this season, throwing a total of 13 strikeouts.

With Stewart being taken off of the injured list, the Dodgers made the decision to send Eder back to Triple-A. Eder was traded to the Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations from the Washington Nationals on April 1 after being Designated for Assignment.

The relief pitcher made four appearances for the back-to-back World Series champions, earning one win in the process. Eder recorded a 2.25 ERA, striking out just one batter across four innings played.

Eder will now have to continue his career in Triple-A while demonstrating his abilities and hoping for a return to the roster should the opportunity arrive once again. Meanwhile, Stewart will continue where he left off last season and be a key reliever for the Dodgers whenever he is called upon to do so.

The Dodgers are currently first in the NL West, with the San Diego Padres not far behind them. The team have dealt with a few injuries at the start of the season, such as the absences of Mookie Betts and Edwin Diaz, but with the team being able to rotate around and find a way to continue winning, the addition of Stewart back into the roster will provide a much-needed addition the Dodgers were looking for in order to push for a third straight World Series trophy.
