Dodgers Pitcher Set to Make Long-Awaited Season Debut vs. Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to continue their win streak in a series-determining game against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.

LA's pitching rotation continues to take shape and come back healthier, as the Dodgers announced the return of another young starter ahead of their third game against the Padres.

Emmet Sheehan experienced elbow soreness before the start of the 2024 season and the Dodgers tried to rehab the pitcher's injury without taking the surgery route.

After further testing, Los Angeles decided to shut down Sheehan for the entire 2024 season as he underwent Tommy John surgery to treat a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL).

Sheehan has been out since the March 2024 surgery, but the Dodgers announced that he's been activated from the 60-day injured list.

The move also sent right-handed relief pitcher Matt Sauer down to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Sheehan hasn't seen the pitching mound since his rookie season in 2023.

His last game he played in was in Game 1 of the 2023 NLDS when the Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks with a final score of 11-2.

In 13 career games that Sheehan has appeared in, he has a 4-1 record, 4.92 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and has struck out 64 batters in 60.1 innings pitched.

The 25-year-old's return to action couldn't have come at a better time, as the Dodgers have been suffering from a long list of injuries to pitchers this season.

Los Angeles still has 16 pitchers that are on the injured list and some big names like Evan Phillips, Gavin Stone, and Michael Grove are all looking to miss the entire 2025 season for the Dodgers.

Sheehan is scheduled to make his season debut on Wednesday night as he goes against Stephen Kolek and the San Diego Padres.
