The Los Angeles Dodgers provided an update on right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who is currently on the 15-day injured list with back spasms.
The All-Star's back discomfort returned, which is part of the reason why Glasnow hasn't begun throwing off a mound yet. However, he is playing catch.
According to manager Dave Roberts, Glasnow's return timeline remains up in the air.
Manager Brandon Gomes spoke to reporters ahead of Monday's series opener against the San Diego Padres. He provided updates on multiple pitchers, including Glasnow.
While there is no long-term concern for the right-hander, his recovery isn't progressing as fast as the Dodgers hoped it would.
“No concern long-term,” Gomes said. “But a little slower on the front end than we expected.”
In 2026, Glasnow has produced a 2.72 ERA with 49 strikeouts across 39.2 innings of work (seven starts). He's been a reliable staple in the rotation, but he's dealt with an injury in each season since being traded to the Dodgers.
During the 2024 season, Glasnow was sidelined in August and missed the postseason during the Dodgers' World Series run with just three healthy starting pitchers.
In 2025, Glasnow was in and out of the rotation as he dealt with cramps, back spasms and right shoulder inflammation.
Once again, the right-hander has landed on the IL amid his third season with LA.
In light of injuries to Glasnow and Blake Snell, the Dodgers acquired left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer, who was designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays. He is expected to the be the Dodgers' sixth starter for the time being.
"The biggest thing is making sure we’re balancing winning as many games as possible, but not panicking and throwing our process out-of-whack here. Trying to balance the short and long term," Gomes said. "This is a guy that’s had a lot of success in the big leagues and somebody that we feel like we can get back to what he was last year."
