Dodgers Receive Bad News on Tyler Glasnow Injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding high with a two-game lead in the National League West. Despite their success, the Dodgers continue to piece together a starting rotation hobbled by injuries. Highlighted by 15 different pitchers on the team’s injury list, the bad news keeps coming for Los Angeles.

According to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez , Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts told reporters starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow’s body is “not responding” after a recent bullpen session. Although he will continue playing catch, the team does not know when Glasnow will return to the pitching mound.

Glasnow initially went on the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation on April 28. At the time, he was set to return in late June. However, he threw his first bullpen session last week, which resulted in body soreness and the pitcher being moved to the 60-day IL, according to Roberts. Glasnow is still eligible to return on June 27, but with the latest report, the odds of his return seem slim.

It is not the first time Glasnow has missed time in a Dodgers jersey, as the 30-year-old had his season cut short in 2024 due to right elbow tendinitis and was unable to pitch in the postseason. Due to his lengthy history of injuries, which includes a 2021 Tommy John Surgery, Los Angeles would be smart to take the long road to Glasnow’s recovery.

Although the Dodgers starting rotation ranks 19th, according to FanGraphs, the scheduled return of Roki Sasaki later this month may provide some relief while Glasnow rehabs.

Before his injury, Glasnow totaled a 0-1 record with a 4.50 ERA in 18 innings. The Dodgers will need Glasnow if they want to make a better chance to be the first repeat World Series champions since the 2000 New York Yankees.
