Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell previously underwent surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow. Snell could potentially return in July, although his official timeline is not official. On Friday, Snell played catch for the first time since having the surgery, according to David Vassegh.

It is a big step in the right direction. Snell still has plenty of work to do before returning, but the fact that he was able to play catch in early June suggests the July timeline is realistic.
With that being said, the Dodgers are going to proceed with extreme caution. There is no need to rush him back from the injury. Los Angeles already knows it is going to be in the postseason.
The goal is for Snell to be ready for the playoffs. If he can return in July and play a role for most of the second half, LA will not complain about that. However, the Dodgers just want him to be ready for October.
The 33-year-old began the season on the injured list and made just one start before returning to the IL. The Dodgers will continue to monitor and provide updates on Blake Snell’s injury status as they are made available.
Overall, the ball club is 41-23 and in first place in the National League West standings. Los Angeles is 7.5 games ahead of the second place Arizona Diamondbacks in the division.
On Saturday, the Dodgers will continue their series against the Los Angeles Angels after defeating them 1-0 on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST at Dodger Stadium.
