The injuries continue to pile up for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Friday, the Dodgers scratched left-handed pitcher Blake Snell from his scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels and placed him on the 15-day IL (retroactive to May 12) with loose bodies in his left elbow.

This type of injury typically requires surgery, but it's currently unknown if Snell will undergo a procedure to get the loose bodies removed.

Snell missed the first six weeks of the season with shoulder fatigue, which landed him on the IL on March 22. The 33-year-old has been limited to just one start this year, where he gave up four runs in three innings on May 9 against the Atlanta Braves.

Snell also missed four months with the Dodgers last season with the same injury that was described as left shoulder inflammation/fatigue. This limited him to a total of 11 starts in 2025.

Snell signed a five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers during the 2024-2025 offseason.

Without Snell, the Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki in their starting rotation. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow is already on the 15-day IL with lower back spasms.

Will Klein will start in Snell's place tonight as the opener in what will be a bullpen game. Lefty Charlie Barnes has been recalled to take Snell's spot on the roster.

Los Angeles enters play on Friday night with a 26-18 record. They're a half game up on the San Diego Padres for first place in the National League West.
