Trevor Bauer will not face criminal charges stemming from the allegations of sexual assault levied against the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher last summer, the L.A. County district attorney’s office decided Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Bauer, 31, was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball on July 2, 2021, shortly after the allegations came to light. The pitcher faced allegations of physically and sexually assaulting a San Diego woman on two separate occasions.
In August, the Washington Post uncovered court records that showed another woman previously alleged Bauer physically abused her and made a death threat directed at her. In a statement, Bauer denied the allegations and said the "false claims" were made by a woman seeking to extort him for "millions of dollars."
While Bauer will not face criminal charges, he may face further punishment in the form of a suspension from MLB.
MLB statement on Bauer: "MLB's investigation is ongoing and we will comment further at the appropriate time."

Bauer was the National League Cy Young winner in 2020 as a member of the Cincinnati Reds. He signed a three-year, $102 million deal with Dodgers in February 2021 but pitched in only 17 games before being placed on leave.
