Cody Bellinger is not going to name his daughter Belli, unfortunately.
Instead, according to People, the 26-year-old Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and his girlfriend, Chase Carter, are going to name their daughter Caiden Carter Bellinger.
"I think being a good dad trumps all," Bellinger told the outlet. "Everyone says being a dad is the most important thing. I won't know until I have the baby in my hand, you know what I mean? My girlfriend feels it. she's growing in her stomach so she has that connection with it. I'm just there for the support, making sure she feels alright. Once she's in my hand, then that'll be completely different."
"I've heard nothing but good things about having a little girl, especially with being the father of the girl," he later added. "Everyone tells me there's no love like it. 'Daddy's little girl' is a real thing, so I'm super excited."
Carter revealed their baby's gender around their one-year anniversary as a couple in mid-July.
Bellinger is entering uncharted territory in his personal life, but the Arizona native has accomplished pretty much all there is to accomplish in Major League Baseball. He claimed NL Rookie of the Year after debuting with L.A. in 2017.
The 2019 season skyrocketed him into another stratosphere individually — Gold Glove, Silver Slugger and NL MVP — before the Dodgers won their first World Series since 1988 last year, and Bellinger earned NLCS MVP honors on the way to the crown.
Bellinger has struggled for the majority of this season, but he's been getting hotter lately.
