For all of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ injured pitchers, such as Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, and Michael Kopech, they finally have a positive update on a starter.
Emmet Sheehan, who started the season on the 15-day injured list before being transferred to the 60-day as he recovers from Tommy John surgery with an internal brace procedure, has made his first rehab start.
Bruce Kuntz of Dodgers Digest had this update on Sheehan:

Sheehan retired all six batters he faced. His return could be huge for the #Dodgers this summer.
Sheehan underwent Tommy John in May of 2024, and this latest development puts him ahead of his originally expected schedule. The talented 25-year-old will make for a welcome addition wherever he lands in the Dodgers’ organization.
Sheehan debuted for Los Angeles in the back half of 2023, primarily as a starter (11 starts in 13 appearances). He recorded a 4.92 ERA, a 4.85 FIP, one save, and 64 strikeouts to 26 walks over 60 and 1/3 innings.
A former top-15 prospect in the Dodgers’ farm system, Sheehan is a primary fastball thrower (60%) while also utilizing a slider (19%) and a changeup (17%). That legitimate three-pitch mix projects well for his starting potential.
While Los Angeles is still waiting on Glasnow, Sasaki, and Snell’s returns, it boasts a rotation headlined by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dustin May, Clayton Kershaw, and Tony Gonsolin. At full health, Sheehan is likely a long reliever or perhaps a Triple-A starter.
But this is not yet the case, and the sooner Sheehan comes back, the better.
Over his last seven outings in 2023, he had a 3.19 ERA, a 4.55 FIP, and 42 strikeouts to 10 walks through 31 innings. That feels like forever ago, but this is a guy who can develop into a real back-end starter for the Dodgers.
Perhaps that rehab start is a sign of things to come for Sheehan.
