There's been plenty of talk about whether the Toronto Blue Jays could move on from Bo Bichette. Frankly, if the plan is for the Blue Jays to try to win a World Series in the next decade, extending Bichette might be the better plan.
Despite him struggling a bit throughout the past few years, Bichette has still proven to be a very good player for other parts.
However, if they want to move on from him, the Los Angeles Dodgers should take advantage of it. The Dodgers, who have gotten below-average production from some of their outfielders, could get creative in a deal for Bichette.
Not only could they add him and make him play shortstop, but the move could also send Mookie Betts back to the outfield.
If the Dodgers were to add Betts to the outfield, Bichette to the middle of their lineup at shortstop, and ensure that Michael Conforto isn't getting any at-bats, this lineup could look much different.
On a potential rental, it isn't like the Dodgers would have to worry about paying him too much, either.
Greg Amsinger of MLB Network named him a trade candidate last month, and it still holds. The Blue Jays are in a strange position and could certainly be willing to part ways with some of their top players.
"He didn't get the $500 million contract extension. His teammate (Guerrero) did. I know he doesn't have a home run yet," Amsinger said. "I get it, but he's hitting .290. I think he's looking more comfortable at the plate. I don't think the Blue Jays are going to the World Series."
Bichette has started to turn it around a bit over the last few weeks, now hitting .293 with four home runs. His power numbers are down, but if they return to form, the Dodgers could get a potential steal.
