In an all-too-familiar scenario, the Chicago White Sox find themselves without their power-hitting outfielder Eloy Jimenez for the next 4-6 weeks. This latest setback adds to Jimenez's extensive injury history, which has become a source of immense frustration for the organization and its fans.

A Timeline of Disappointment: Eloy Jimenez's Injury Woes

Since his MLB debut in 2019, Jimenez has spent more time on the injured list than on the field. From a high ankle sprain in his rookie season to a ruptured pectoral tendon that cost him most of 2021, Jimenez's health has been a constant concern.

The 2023 season saw Jimenez miss significant time due to an appendectomy along with four other injuries that kept the White Sox DH on the shelf. This hamstring injury is his second trip to the injured list in 2024.

"When I was almost scoring, I felt it. I said, 'Not again.' That was my reaction," Jiménez said in an interview before Saturday's game. "But I said, 'I'm not going to sit here and be sorry for myself. I'm just going to work hard.' I know one day I'm going to find the answer to this. This is going to be just a bad dream, a nightmare."

The Impact on the White Sox: Struggling to Compensate

Jimenez's absence leaves a significant hole in the White Sox's lineup. His power and run production are difficult to replace, putting additional pressure on the rest of the roster. The team has struggled to find consistency in recent seasons, and the revolving door of injuries to key players like Jimenez has undoubtedly played a significant role.

As the White Sox navigate another stretch without their slugger, fans are left wondering if the team will ever be able to field a fully healthy roster. Many are well past the point of believing that Jimenez will ever be the guy that most believed he could be when acquired from the Cubs in the infamous deal that sent Jose Quintana to the Cubs in exchange for Jimenez and Dylan Cease.

When will the "nightmare" end?
