Enmanuel Bonilla ranks as Blue Jays Nation’s 46th-best prospect in 2025 mid-season update
© Nathan Ray Seebeck - USA Today

No prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays’ system has seen their stock drop as much as Enmanuel Bonilla.

This is Blue Jays Nation’s annual mid-season prospect list, where we’ll take a look at the 50 best prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. I’ll look at the player’s stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players.

Let’s get to know our 46th-best Blue Jays prospect in the 2025 mid-season update, Enmanuel Bonilla. If you missed the 47th-ranked prospect, you can read about Pat Gallagher here.

Getting to know Enmanuel Bonilla…

Position: Outfielder

Bats: Right

Born: January 22, 2006

Acquired: 2023 International Free Agency

Previous ranking: 23rd overall (2025 pre-season)

In early 2023, Enmanuel Bonilla was one of the highest-regarded international prospects of that class, ranking as MLB Pipeline’s seventh-best prospect available in the International Free Agency. It was the Blue Jays that were able to get his signature, signing him to a bonus of $4.1 million, one of the largest bonuses in franchise history.

The signing looked good at the start, as the outfield prospect slashed .307/.407/.429 with three home runs in 226 plate appearances in 2023 with their Dominican Summer League team. Of the 50 games he played that season, Bonilla failed to reach base just twice.

Then, he came stateside. With the Florida Complex League Blue Jays in 2024, Bonilla slashed .186/.257/.299 with four home runs in 214 plate appearances, with a 6.1 BB% and 35.5 K% for a 54 wRC+. Repeating the 2025 in the FCL, Bonilla had a similar season, slashing .186/.260/.282 with four home runs in 217 plate appearances for a 58 wRC+. His K% dropped to 27.2%, a small positive.

Bonilla’s standing in the Blue Jays farm system has dropped significantly, as he fell off MLB Pipeline’s, Baseball America’s, and Fangraphs’ updated 2025 lists for the team. There’s still power potential in the frame, but Bonilla’s hit tool is becoming increasingly concerning.  The 2026 season will be Bonilla’s age-20 season, and he needs to have a breakout year.
