The Toronto Blue Jays have little room for error after dropping two straight games to the Detroit Tigers.

Infielder Ernie Clement acknowledged the urgency after Tuesday’s 10-1 loss at Rogers Centre, telling reporters that every remaining game carries postseason-level importance.

“Every game’s a playoff game at this point. You have to find a way to come back with energy tomorrow,” Clement said, via Mitch Bannon of The Athletic on X.

The Blue Jays entered the series needing wins but instead dropped Monday’s opener 6-5 before Detroit dominated the second game.

Toronto managed just one run Tuesday, with Alejandro Kirk driving in the club’s lone run in the eighth inning. The Blue Jays’ Nos. 2 through 5 hitters went a combined 2-for-14.

Clement went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in the loss. He has remained a regular contributor for Toronto while moving around the infield throughout the season.

The 30-year-old is batting .269 with a .296 on-base percentage, nine home runs, 47 RBI and 7 stolen bases across 148 games in 2026.

The latest loss also came as Toronto watched the American League Wild Card race move against it. Cleveland defeated the Chicago White Sox 7-6, while Texas beat Boston 4-2.

Toronto entered Wednesday with a 75-77 record, leaving the Blue Jays two games behind Cleveland for the final AL Wild Card spot with only 10 games remaining.

The Rangers moved ahead of Toronto at 76-76, adding another team to the crowded race.

Clement’s message reflects the situation facing the Blue Jays. There is little time left to recover from another setback, making Wednesday’s series finale against Detroit particularly important.
