With 88 wins and 52 losses in 1919 to win the AL pennant, the White Sox appeared on the verge of a dynasty. The White Sox did not win another pennant for 40 years.

After finishing second in the AL to the New York Yankees in 1957 and 1958, the White Sox won the 1959 pennant with 94 wins and 60 losses. The White Sox won game one of the 1959 World Series 11-0, before the Los Angeles Dodgers won the next three games on their way to the title in six games.

Another postseason drought for the White Sox lasted until the Pale Hose won their first division title in 1983. The White Sox won Game 1 2-1 at the Baltimore Orioles before losing the final three games of the series. The White Sox scored three runs in the four-game loss to Baltimore.

With 95 wins, the 2000 White Sox entered the playoffs as the number seed in the AL. The wild card Seattle Mariners swept the White Sox in a three-game series, holding them to eight runs. Five years went by before the White Sox made their next postseason appearance.

The 2005 White Sox have been well documented. A sweep of the defending champion Red Sox in the AL Division Series, four consecutive complete games in the ALCS to beat the Anaheim Angels four games to one and a World Series sweep over the Houston Astros for the White Sox's first title in 88 years.

The 2008 White Sox had to play consecutive games over three days against Cleveland, the Detroit Tigers and a 163rd game versus the Minnesota Twins to earn the AL Central title. White Sox pitchers were spent by the time they reached the playoffs and lost three games to one to the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 2020, the White Sox won game one of the wild-card series at the Oakland A's before losing the final two games to drop the series. Houston avenged their 2005 World Series loss, beating the White Sox three games to one in the Division Series on their way to the AL pennant.

The White Sox enter the 2026 playoffs with their World Championship teams in 1906, 1917 and 2005 as the only ones to win postseason series. Making the 2026 postseason is a huge accomplishment for the White Sox. Winning a series would place them among the most accomplished in franchise history.
