The New York Yankees will fail to win a World Series for the 17th consecutive season, and frustration is even growing among the team’s former players.
Anthony Rizzo, who spent four seasons with the Yankees at the end of his career, suggested that something needs to change within the organization to shake things up after another early playoff exit. On his “Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered” podcast, Rizzo said the team keeps ending up with the same result, and while he does not know what the solution is, some sort of change is necessary.
“If you talk to people there, they almost think it’s insanity. We just keep doing the same thing every year and we don’t win. That’s the definition of insanity if you think it’s going to change,” Rizzo said. “They don’t win. They can’t beat the good teams. That’s just how it’s been year after year.”

Rizzo appears unlikely to get his wish. The most obvious change to make would be at the managerial position, but Aaron Boone appears likely to be back. There will be some roster changes, but fundamentally, the team is built around the same set of players that have not gotten it done over the last few years.
Some Yankees appear to be growing frustrated with the status quo as well. Despite that, there are only so many changes the team can realistically make in one offseason.
