A Kenosha family sued the Milwaukee Brewers over a missing $13,000 raffle prize. Annette and Matthew Flynn decided to take the matter to court after the team said they had missed out on the prize.
The team’s 50/50 raffle rules sparked this whole situation. The family purchased their raffle tickets in the parking lot of American Field Family. Half of the proceeds go to the Brewers Charity Foundation and the other half to the winning ticket holder.
According to WISN, the couple couldn’t see the scoreboard from their seats and missed the winning number when it was drawn. They checked on their phone and immediately ran to claim the prize. However, the Brewers refused to award them
Footage from July 7, 2023, showed the couple storming off their seats to collect their winnings. Annette said they had just six outs to reach a specific location to claim the prize.

Annette and Matthew Flynn say missing out on a $13,000 jackpot during a 50/50 raffle at a Milwaukee Brewers home game has left them with new resolve — to face off with the ballclub in court.

“To this day, I don’t know why those were the rules,” Annette said.
She said that an usher took her to a location on the main level instead of where she should have gone: the loge level.
“I caught my breath, and then I proceeded to walk up 57 steps to the second floor. Out of breath completely, I get to the table upstairs, two gentlemen are there, I show them my phone and my ticket, and I said, ‘I’m the winner, Bob downstairs sent me up here.’ He looks back at the TV screen, and he says, ‘Oh no, you weren’t here on time. We called another number.’ I’m like, ‘What do you mean you called another number?'” she added.
The foundation timeline showed that they waited just 15 seconds after the final out before announcing a new winning number. The State Appeals Court ruled this week that the timing of Annette’s arrival didn’t matter, as the raffle rules stated the foundation had sol discretion in awarding the prize.
Amid this situation, they changed the rules, giving winners 30 days to claim the prize.
