Fan hits, bites usher at Braves-Nationals game

The Atlanta Braves pulled into a tie with the New York Mets atop the National League East division standings thanks in part to their 8-2 victory over the last-place Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, but it appears the most noteworthy thing to have occurred at Nationals Park that evening may have happened in the stands.

As shared by TMZ Sports, an individual who attended Tuesday's game tweeted a video that contains not-safe-for-work language and that shows Nationals Park staffers attempting to eject a fan from the venue during the contest's ninth inning. The man protested but was seemingly on the verge of heading up the stairs and out of the ballpark when, somewhat out of nowhere, he elbowed an usher in the face multiple times and then appeared to bite that usher's hand during the subsequent skirmish.

The assaulter was left with blood on his face, and TMZ says it's unknown if the usher who was attacked suffered any injuries. TMZ had not yet heard back from local police or the Nationals about the matter as of Wednesday afternoon.

It's the second time this month that an off-the-field incident at Nationals Park has gone viral. During a game between the Nationals and Oakland Athletics on Sept. 1, a grown man caught and stole a souvenir baseball thrown toward a 10-year-old girl. The Nationals have since confirmed that outfielder Joey Meneses sent a signed ball and a handwritten note to that girl.
