New York Yankees All-Star slugger Aaron Judge was, of course, the big winner among sports figures from Tuesday night after he hit home run No. 62 of the 2022 MLB campaign at the Texas Rangers to set a new American League single-season record for homers.
At least one person was likely left with some regrets as Judge began his historic trot around the bases.
Social media users and others quickly noticed that one fan who realistically had little chance of retrieving the baseball linked with Judge's accomplishment jumped over the protective railing in a feeble attempt to obtain the souvenir:

TMZ Sports reports that the individual who took the plunge avoided any serious injuries despite what appeared to be a scary fall. That person was ejected from the venue for his actions, but TMZ adds that the Rangers kindly declined to press any charges against somebody left with a blow mostly to his pride.
It's understandable anybody in this exact situation would be willing to figuratively risk it all. Previous reports said that Judge's record-setting 62nd home run baseball could potentially sell for over $500K at auction, and it was said on Tuesday night that the person who caught the ball later identified as Cory Youmans had already received offers of $2 million for the piece of MLB history.
CNN's Wayne Sterling notes that Youmans hadn't yet publicly declared what he'll do with the baseball as of Wednesday afternoon.
