Former Reds' All-Star closer Alexis Diaz was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday afternoon. Diaz was 1-0 with a 7.80 ERA in 15 innings with a 1.47 WHIP in Los Angeles.
Diaz was traded to the Dodgers for reliever Mike Villani on May 29th after posting a 12.00 ERA in six games with the Reds in April, with just three strikeouts and five walks across six total innings.
An All-Star in 2023, Diaz looked like he was the closer of the future for the Reds. He had a 1.19 WHIP and a .186 batting average against with 37 saves. Now, his future is uncertain as he fails to remain on an injury-depleted Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff.
