Frank Thomas, aka the Big Hurt, can be seen on your television promoting a sports supplement called Nugenix, a product guaranteed to make the old and weak young and strong again. Thomas also peddles Italian beef sandwiches for the Buona Beef restaurant chain, but today, the Chicago White Sox legend appeared somewhere no one expected.
During "The Faulkner Focus" show on Fox News, Thomas appeared in a video honoring prominent figures who passed away in 2023. The footage included The Big Hurt during his career and a clip of his Hall of Fame induction speech.
Rest assured, Frank Edward Thomas, Jr., former White Sox first baseman and DH, is alive and well. Fox later issued a correction as the network confused him with another Frank Thomas, a three-time All-Star with the Pittsburgh Pirates who passed away in January.
"We misidentified Frank Thomas, the three-time All-Star for the Pittsburgh Pirates," anchor Julie Banderas said. "The Frank Thomas we showed you, unfortunately, was also a former pro baseball player. He is very much alive."
The 55-year-old and very much alive Thomas worked as a Fox analyst from 2014 until the spring of 2023 and responded to the exaggerated reports of his "death."
Now that his life status is cleared up, Frank Thomas can be seen on White Sox pre- and post-game coverage for NBC Sports Chicago alongside Chuck Garfien and Ozzie Guillen. He can also be seen and heard on Apple+ for their Friday Night Baseball coverage.
