Giancarlo Stanton remains a key piece of the New York Yankees lineup even though he is nearing the twilight of his career. The 37-year-old regularly battled injuries across his body in recent years to be on the field. Stanton missed a large part of spring training this year before getting into the Opening Day roster for the Yankees.

The New York Yankees placed Giancarlo Stanton on the IL last week. He suffered a low-grade right calf strain in the series opener on the road against the Houston Astros. Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reported the latest update on the five-time All-Star slugger, as per Yankees manager Aaron Boone.

“Giancarlo Stanton hasn’t run yet, Aaron Boone said. The hope is he starts hitting this weekend,” he posted via X.

Stanton is slashing .256/.302/.422 over 24 games this season with three home runs, 14 RBIs, and a 100 OPS+. The Yankees called up outfielder Jasson Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as his replacement on the active roster. However, Dominguez also sat out the past three games for the team with a hand injury.

Aaron Boone Heaps Praise On Yankees Pitcher In Win Over Orioles

The New York Yankees bagged a 7-2 win on Friday to take the opening encounter of the four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. Will Warren delivered an excellent performance on the mound, giving up only one run over 6.1 innings while striking out nine Orioles batters. Yankees skipper Aaron Boone heaped praise on the starting pitcher after the game.

“You say he’s the guy we haven’t talked about,” Boone said about Warren. “The body of work, just from jumping into spring training, has just been excellent over and over again.”

Warren overcame a rough start to his 2025 rookie campaign to make 33 starts for the Yankees last year. After a couple of subpar outings, he notched three quality starts in a row. He now has a 4-0 record for the season with a 2.39 ERA and 46 strikeouts.
