Just when it seemed that the New York Yankees were receiving positive injury updates surrounding Aaron Judge (ribs) and Giancarlo Stanton (calf), those updates took a turn for the worst on Saturday.
According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Stanton suffered another strained calf while trying to return from his first calf injury. Boone revealed that Stanton fell while running the bases and suffered the injury.
Boone told media members that the injury for Stanton was a moderate-grade strain, but with just under a month remaining in the season, it may be serious enough to prevent a return.
"We're at a point in the calendar where it gets challenging, but you also never know," Boone said when speaking on a possible return.

Stanton had a bit of a rejuvenation in 2025 with a slash line of .273/.350/.594 but his overall production in New York the past five seasons have been rough.
Stanton has combined to appear in just 101 games over the last two seasons and has appeared in just 426 of a possible 810 games (52.5%) since the start of the 2022 season. Outside of 2025, his best season in terms average was the .256 he was hitting this season in just 90 at-bats.
Stanton has one more guaranteed season on his contract before a $19 million club option ahead of the 2028 season. With all the concerns surrounding injuries and production, New York picking up that option in Stanton's age-38 season feels highly unlikely.
The active leader in home runs will need a fully healthy 2027 season to help get him to the final year of the 13-year, $325 million contract he signed way back in 2015.
